Introduction
Physics is a cumulative endeavor; no research is ever in vain, for what appears "smaller than other effects" may still hold profound significance.
物理学とは1つ1つの積み重ねであって、「他の効果よりも小さいように見える」からと言ってその研究が無駄ということは決してない。
Spintronics is one of the most rapidly advancing fields of physics in the 21st century.
Concepts such as spin currents and spin torque have not only contributed to magnetism
as driving magnetic walls and controlling the direction of magnetization,
but have also had a major impact on fundamental physics as a new quantum transport phenomenon.
In recent years, new frontiers have been opened up and expanded,
such as spin transport using the surface state of topological insulators (superconductors),
spin physics in strongly correlated electronic systems,
and nonlinear response to the driving force in quantum transport phenomena.
Fostering exchange among researchers working at the forefront of these diverse "branches"
would leads to even more remarkable progress in physics. We hope that this workshop will serve as a catalyst for such development.
